Letter to the Editor
University problems were always apparent

To Ms. Leister, whose letter appeared in Friday's Collegian: It seems you have two unrelated complaints in your letter. The first was that your friend did something illegal and was reprimanded for it. To that I say, he is an adult. He should accept the consequences of his actions and deal with it. The second complaint, however, is quite valid.

You (or your parents, or whomever) pay quite a large amount of money to this school every semester to get an education. You also pay to rent living space on campus, and you feel you are not getting your money's worth. Your dorm halls are unsafe, if you are even able to get a room there. You don't get the attention you feel due you by those hired by the university to help you with your academic decisions. What I find so amazing is that it seems to have taken the parking ticket (which your friend deserved for parking where he shouldn't) to get you to complain about the deplorable treatment you are getting from this institution.

I, too, am annoyed at the way institutions of higher learning (not just this school, mind you) feel they can get away with terrible customer service that would cause any regular business to go under in no time. What is even worse is that students, who are customers, allow this to go on. It shouldn't take a parking ticket to make you realize that you deserve more for the hard-earned money you send to the school every semester.
