Letter to the Editor
Students need to focus on improving university

After five years at Penn State, I have grown to love and cherish everything about it. One thing I have found is that most of the people I meet see Penn State as a place that has violent riots, too much protesting, discrimination and a losing football team.

My suggestion is: show to others that Penn State is better than the infamous riots, better than the people who send out the racist e-mails and better than the people who break into the dorms .

We still have one of the largest alumni associations in the country. Use this to hype up a positive image. Our campus is a beautiful place, but it doesn't show any reason to change existing perceptions. A lot of controversial things happen here that make the national news. With a school our size, it's hard to keep control of things like that.

If Penn State wants to improve its image, you as students have to do your part in helping out. Stop rioting, it only leads to violence and arrests. Stop sending racist e-mails. Stop breaking into people's dorms to sexually harass or molest innocent people. There is no need for this. Our behavior is what puts this university in a negative light.
