"It (the home-and-home) will be interesting," head coach Joe Battista said .
Another interesting aspect to look out for this weekend is how Towson expects to stop or just slow down an Icer offense which notched 19 goals last weekend, while only allowing one.
However, Towson head coach Marshall Stevenson does not appear to be doing anything special in preparation for the Icers.
"We are looking forward to it (games with the Icers)," Stevenson said. "We have not done anything out of the ordinary in preparation."
This may seem strange considering the numbers the Icers put up last weekend, but Stevenson has faith in his team and is sticking to a very simple philosophy.
"We have the talent. I think we can play with them," Stevenson said. "We just have to score more goals than Penn State."
Scoring goals has certainly not been a problem thus far for the Icers and it appears that everything is beginning to come together for them.
"We are feeling better about our timing and cohesiveness," Battista said.
Two players who have not appeared to be off for a second this season are goalies Geoff Beauparlant and Scott Graham. Both played outstandingly last weekend and are ready to once again share the ice this weekend. It appears that Beauparlant will start tonight at home and Graham will make his second consecutive road start tomorrow at Towson.
The team's cohesiveness might have been slightly altered this week with some players missing practice due to exams.
"It really throws a monkey wrench into our plans," Battista said.
However, the Icers have shown in their first four games that when that puck drops, they all come together and are ready to go.
"We were really pumped up and ready to play (against Kent State) and it showed," Battista said. "We have to be ready to come out of the gates flying. They (Towson) are the type of team you have to play 60 minutes against. There is no quit in them."
Battista knows that the Tigers must be taken seriously. The Tigers could easily take a bite out of the Icers if they are not prepared.
"They will be gritty. They have an outstanding goalie, very good defense and are very physical," Battista said. "We are not in a position to take them lightly."
This will be a big weekend for the Icers who are looking to capitalize on the momentum they picked up from last weekend's terrific showing.
Their next four games are all against top 10 teams after the Towson series. Battista knows that they have to go into this part of the schedule on a high note, making the Towson games even more important.
If the Icers are able to play with the intensity and ability they displayed last weekend, Towson could very well be in for a difficult time this weekend as the Icers look to go 5-0-1 on this young season.
