Parade to cause traffic around campus, town

The Penn State Homecoming Parade will cause some traffic delays this evening.

The parade will block parts of College Avenue, Burrowes Road, Curtin Road, Pollock Road, University Drive and Shortlidge Road between 5:00 and 8:30 p.m., according to a press release from the State College Police Department. Centre Area Transportation Authority buses along these routes will have scheduled changes between 4:00 and 8:30 p.m., according to a CATA press release.

Motorists can expect delays but a detour route will be in effect. Westbound traffic on East College Avenue will be directed onto University Drive to Park Avenue then west on Park Avenue to Atherton Street.

Parking along the parade route is restricted and motorists must remove their parked vehicles before the parade commences at 5:30 p.m.
