Friendship with America shows support, concern

Americans, as well as foreigners living in this country, are in fear that they might be the next targets of terrorist attacks. Following the events on September the 11th, non-Americans, especially foreigners with Muslim backgrounds, have been suspected to organize or support such attacks on American targets. Apparently, this suspicion is coming from the fact that alleged terrorists who carried out the attacks have used and been using religious messages that are coming from countries of Islamic background. All the focus in media and in public life turned toward Muslims.

I think that under such conditions Muslims (as a Muslim myself) should stand up and open themselves to the American public. They should support American government and ease its job to single out terrorists in the United States. This is the time that the American public expects us to stand up and show our friendship if we are sincere. We should open our houses so they know we are families just like other average American families. We should open up our mosques to show that these places are no different from an average church in this country. We should support security forces in any way so they can find terrorists faster and so Americans can live in peace and security.

We should do all of this not only because our religion teaches us to act this way -- I mean be with good, not with evil -- but also because it is our turn to show our kindness and friendship to American public. A lot of non-American Muslims have lived in this country for a long time in peace, in friendship and in freedom. This is the time to leave politics aside and be with good American people to support them in their endeavor against evil.
