Members of Penn State's student government are trying to change the perception many members of Pennsylvania's state government have toward the university.

"We have come together based on what we fear," Miami Herald columnist Leonard Pitts Jr. told a crowd of several hundred last night. "Why should we invest so much faith in bonds formed over hate and fear?"

If Paterno beats Ohio State tomorrow at Beaver Stadium, he'll put the final touch on his lengthy résumé — win No. 324.

It was last season, the Ohio State football team was pounding Penn State into submission and were comfortably leading the game by more than 30 points.

Enough about Matt Senneca and Zack Mills already. Both deserve to play and it doesn't matter which one starts against Ohio State. In a nutshell, that's what coach Joe Paterno has said all along about the "quarterback controversy."

It's a wonder that Joe Paterno wasn't pacing the sidelines at Northwestern last week with platform shoes, bellbottoms and a butterfly collar.

With only four regular season games remaining, it's crunch time for the Penn State men's soccer team. The Nittany Lions face Hartwick tonight in their first home contest in nearly three weeks.

After two and a half months of practice and hard work, the wait is finally over. The Lions head into Sunday's Big Ten Championships at the Orange and Blue University Golf Course in Champaign, Ill., with confidence.

Homecoming will be tomorrow. No, not Penn State's homecoming, that is still next weekend, but a homecoming of sorts for Icers assistant coach Mike McNeill.

Reeling from a tough loss, the team needs a win to get things back on track. Once again, the first team standing in their way will be Northwestern tonight.

The Penn State field hockey team is hoping to tally its 11th win of the season this Sunday when they travel to Indiana to take on the Hoosiers at 1 p.m.

Just because there's only two games left on the schedule and their major objective of the season is practically accomplished, it doesn't mean it's time to relax for the Penn State women's rugby team.

It's crunch time for the Penn State men's rugby team.

Against all odds.

The University of Pittsburgh no longer includes "Penn State sucks" in its fight song, but that does not mean the rivalry between the two schools has cooled.

This weekend will be pivotal for the Penn State Div. II men's ice hockey team. The puck drops tonight in Pittsburgh, where the Ice Lions will be attempting to get their season rolling against the Pittsburgh Panthers.

A special message in the liner notes of the New Deal's newest record reads, "No sequencers or samplers were used in the recording of this album." This is a bold claim from a band that often sounds more like computer-produced techno than live musicians.
