Letter to the Editor
Animal crime article break from war news

Having read the letter by Brian Goesling concerning the animal sex article in Tuesday's Daily Collegian, I felt compelled to give Mr. Goesling a piece of advice: you might want to lighten up.

My co-workers and I welcomed the article as a break from the constant deluge of anthrax and war on terrorism news. It gave us all a chance to smile and laugh. It lifted a burden on all of our minds that has been there since Sept. 11th, if even for only a couple of minutes.

I would have to object to his claim of it being a piece of tabloid reporting. For as weird and strange that was, it actually did happen. I will agree that maybe it was wrong of the Daily Collegian not to have reported on a visit from a Nobel Prize winner but that does not necessarily make it wrong to report this.

Consider this: if the Collegian were to have placed an article concerning the Nobel Prize winner along side the horse sex story, which article do you think would have been read by the average 20-year-old college student? I'll give you a clue: Mr. Ed.
