USG Senate seats filled for East Halls

Two open seats in the Undergraduate Student Government Senate were filled Tuesday.

Julia Graham (freshman-economics) and Dave Kowalski (freshman-finance) were sworn in as East Halls senators.

Graham said that past debating experiences led to her interest in USG.

"I've always liked debating for a better cause," she said. "I thought it was a natural progression for me."

Kowalski said he joined USG because he thought it was a good organization and that he "wanted to help the university any way I could."

The positions were made available after Steven Verbovszky resigned to pursue other interests and the East Halls Residence Association denied Mark Atkinson permission to continue representing East Halls. He was denied permission because he lives in North Halls.

Earlier this month, four of the 28 senate positions were vacant.
