Letter to the Editor
Information about USG available in many areas
I am upset and frankly disturbed by Mr. Peel's column regarding the Undergraduate Student Government and the services it provides to the students at University Park. It is sad to think that there are people like Mr. Peel out there who rely on Web sites as their only sources for information. Perhaps he should get off the computer and brush up on his human interaction skills. About the information on the Web site, I must question when Mr. Peel last visited the site. Today, anyone with access to the World Wide Web may visit the USG Web site to read the organization's constitution, press releases, upcoming events and descriptions of each branch, complete with contact information for virtually every position within USG. If Mr. Peel were truly interested in the organization and not just bashing it based upon the Web site, then, like many other interested students, he should have stopped by or called the USG office to inquire about the organization's purpose and mission. The office address and phone number are both listed on the Web site. But since Mr. Peel claims to be an expert on USG, he should have that information memorized anyway. Further, if Mr. Peel is so inclined, he, as well as all students, may attend USG's open house on October 23 at 6 p.m. in 223 HUB-Robeson Center (also posted on the Web site), where I am confident all of his concerns and questions can be put to ease.
