I wanted to write this letter in response to yesterday's Collegian Editorial entitled, "USG Midterm Report Shows Slow Progress."
While I won't try to justify the progress of Undergraduate Student Government as a whole, I can point out one particular part of the article that could be debated.
It is the part where reference is made to the diversity hotline.
I want to point out that one, in fact, already exists-it just needs a little more advertising.
Since 1972, Lion Support has been helping out, from helping students with absentee excuses, to listening when someone needs a friend, and with reporting acts of racial intolerance on this campus.
Lion Support is a peer-counseling network of dedicated and well-trained students.
When someone does report and act of racial intolerance, the members of Lion Support know exactly how to handle the situation and can report the findings to the proper authorities and administrators.
All that it takes is a simple call to 863-2020, all hours of the day.
In the lingering mist of race related problems, it's good to know that someone is there to help.
