Education is key to students' understanding of the issues surrounding the war and how it affects daily life.
Being educated in the events that have already happened and the others that are likely to come could give students a better understanding how it affects the individual. Watching the way the government handles the situation is another good idea.
Professors should be sensitive to the topic. Open discussions about the events in classes will create better communication.
Respecting all students, including Muslim students and Middle Eastern students at Penn State, should be a priority to all students.
Several leaders of Muslim groups on campus have said that many Muslim students are afraid even to venture to class because of possible retaliation for events as out of their control as anyone else's.
All students must realize that Muslims and their religion are a part of Penn State as well as the United States. Now that the United States is bombing Afghanistan, the effects of harassment on Muslims could become magnified and lead to more fear on both sides, causing a larger uninformed gap between other Penn State students and Muslims.
