The American Lung Association of Pennsylvania (ALAPA) will sponsor the State College Asthma Walk at 10:30 a.m. Saturday. The walk starts and ends at the Central Parklet on Frasier Street.
The walk is being held to raise money and awareness for asthma research and education, according to a press release from ALAPA. Funds will go to programs such as asthma camps and the Asthma Olympics.
Registration for the walk is from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. There is no registration fee, but participants are encouraged to raise $75, the release said.
Participants can be any age and are welcome to bring strollers and pets. There will be a two-mile and a five-mile course that people may either walk or run.
About 500 people are expected to participate in the walk, the release said.
The walk is part of the ALAPA’s series of ten walks throughout the state, the release said. The radio station Beaver 103 will sponsor the event.
