Philharmonic and Chamber Orchestras scheduled for Eisenhower performance

The Penn State Philharmonic and Chamber Orchestras are scheduled to perform at 8 p.m. Thursday in Eisenhower Auditorium.

"In general, the musical pie-ces are very optimistic and positive," said Gerardo Edelstein, who will conduct the show. "That type of music is very needed these days with what we're going through in the country."

Eldestein said that the Chamber Orchestra will perform Mozart's "Magic Flute" and Ginastera's "Variaciones Concertantes," and the Philharmonic will perform Sibelius's "Finlandia" and Bernstein's "Symphonic Dances" from West Side Story. The State College Area Symphony Orchestra will join the university's Philharmonic in "Finlandia."

Tickets for the performance are available at the Eisenhower Auditorium Box Office or by phone at 814-863-0255. The student ticket price is $2.50.
