Pleasant Gap man arraigned in robbery

A Pleasant Gap man was arraigned yesterday in connection with a bank robbery that occurred Wednesday in Bellefonte.

Todd Anthony Brown, 32, is charged with one count of robbery, one count of theft by unlawful taking and one count of receiving stolen property.

According to the Bellefonte Police Department, Brown went into PNC Bank, 901 E. Bishop St., and ordered the bank teller to empty her register and fill a bag with money. Brown allegedly took $9,800, police said.

Witnesses described the individual as a white man with dark hair, about six feet tall, dressed in a black shirt, camouflage pants and a black winter hat covering his face.

The man was carrying a rifle and a large black woman's handbag.

Brown told police he took the money because he was three months behind on his mortgage and he wanted to make sure he had food on the table for his children, police said.
