Dance troupe to give classes, hold auditions

Dancers, and non-dancers, of all ages and levels of experience will be given an opportunity to explore genres with no damage to their pocketbooks.

The Central Pennsylvania Dance Workshop, 101 S. Fraser St., is offering a week of free classes from Wednesday to Sept. 25.

The dance studio will provide its prospective students with a wide array of classes to choose from — including three levels of ballets, modern, jazz, tap, pointe, ballroom, swing, latin, preballet, creative dance and tai chi chi kung.

Jill A. Brighton, director of the workshop, will search for more experienced ballet, modern, jazz and tap dancers to join the Fraser Street Dancers.

The group is comprised of local dancers who are dedicated to exploring more creative avenues of dance.

Fall auditions for the group will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday.

Under the direction of Brighton, the Fraser Street Dancers will prepare for a performance-intensive year.

Among other performances, the group holds an annual recital at the Fairmount Avenue Elementary School, 411 S. Fraser St.
