Bellefonte man fires gun, has day in court

A 31-year-old Bellefonte man was arraigned Saturday for recklessly endangering another person when he fired a gun in a residential neighborhood.

According to police documents, Shannon Lee Bohn was arrested Friday after having a fight over the telephone with his girlfriend. He concluded the argument by telling her "to give the kids a kiss and hold them tight," and then firing a gunshot.

The phone went dead and after trying numerous times to reach Bohn after the incident, the woman called police, reports said.

Neighbors confirmed there was a gunshot fired and officers went to his house, but Bohn refused to come out. A dispatcher did reach Bohn, who, after 20 minutes of conversing with the dispatcher, came out of the house, documents said.

Bohn told officers he fired the shot because he "was upset with his girlfriend" and was trying to quiet noisy neighbors. Bohn was placed under arrest, evaluated and deemed not suicidal, according to police documents.

He is being held at the Centre County Jail on $2,500 bail.
