Buses inconvenient, make travel difficult
In response to the article written on Aug. 28 about the Centre Area Transit Authority: CATA wants to blame their "V" Route bussing problems on Atherton Street's traffic? CATA can blame themselves for the problems along this route. CATA reduced "V" Route service this semester -- check last year's "Ride Guide." The "V" came every 20 minutes last year as opposed to every 30 minutes this year. Instead of having three buses an hour, we have two buses an hour. As students suffer in long lines waiting for their rides home to Vairo Blvd, they can often see up to two "R" buses pull up to the same stop. Not only do buses arrive less frequently, we usually see them sail past us with a "bus full/discharge only" sign. Many students have to get on at stops far away from their classrooms just to be assured a ride home spot. Toe-to-toe crowds, hard to reach balance bars, and none-too-smooth breaking just spells out "law suit." I can only imagine what would happen if the bus were in an accident. Trying to get off during a normal ride is a difficult and time-consuming task. I would also like to know why posted times, "Ride Guide" times, and actual arrival times do not match up. It's easy to miss buses that are never on any of those schedules.
