Arrest: William H. Mitchell, 52, of State College, was arrested at about 7:30 p.m. Sunday in connection with an alleged assault at his residence on the 1200 block of South Allen Street, the State College Police Department said.
Mitchell is charged with simple assault, disorderly conduct and harassment.
His girlfriend told police he punched her in the head and kicked her repeatedly, police said.
The woman was found to have a small bump on the side of her head but refused medical attention, police said.
Mitchell was arraigned Sunday before District Judge Carmine Prestia, police said. His unsecured bail was set at $10,000. His preliminary hearing is scheduled for 1 p.m. tomorrow.

Suspicious Activity: A 19-year-old Penn State student reported a possible sexual assault on Saturday evening, State College police said.
The woman said she spent the day at Delta Chi Fraternity, 424 E. Fairmount Ave., and fell asleep in a room at the house.
When she awoke, her clothing was in disarray, police said. The woman called police and was taken to Centre Community Hospital for an examination, police said.
The incident still is under investigation, police said.

Theft: A Penn State student reported the theft of a laptop computer early Saturday morning from an apartment in the 500 block of Locust Lane, State College police said.
The victim reported there were people in the apartment that evening and that after they left, at around 2:15 a.m., she noticed the laptop missing, police said.
The estimated value of the laptop is $2,000, police said.

Theft: A Penn State student reported Sunday the theft of a guitar and several Sony Playstation games from his unsecured residence on the 300 block of South Atherton Street, State College police said.
Police said an unknown person entered the residence through an unlocked door and removed the items.
There are no suspects, police said.
