NEWS

The recent suicide of Penn State student Timothy Kulp while in custody at Centre County Prison, Bellefonte has left many asking how something like this happened and why it was not prevented.

There's no question. It's here for good this time.

Students searching for a place to park their cars close to campus might not have to look hard for a spot, but they might find themselves paying more than they anticipated.

Nearly three years after he resigned as Undergraduate Student Government Senate President, Jason Covener (senior-international politics) was appointed Town Senator at Tuesday's Senate meeting.

This fall, insufficient requests for special living options has placed students in interest houses they didn't select.

A new course was born from last semester's racial turmoil. Entitled "Peer Education for Social Change," the class plans to live up to its name by drawing a correlation between diversity and learning.

Anyone who has gone to mass this semester probably noticed one major difference: Father Fred was not leading the service.

It's not every day that someone is told to "practice safe Mex" before going out to dinner.

As the second week of classes ends, many off-campus students are still without Internet access.

SPORTS

When the Penn State women's volleyball team had one of the best setters in the country two years ago, they swept Stanford for the national championship.

Miami quarterback Ken Dorsey can't wait to see his offense in action. After months of preseason practice, the junior wants to see his receivers against players other than the Miami secondary.

Eight months ago, sophomore Jeff Hantz had never picked up a shot put, discus or javelin. In that time, he has made himself one of the premier wheelchair track & field athletes in the nation.

A good quarterback. Good running backs. Good receivers. And a good line. Does the Miami Hurricanes' offense have any weaknesses? There aren't many that jump out at you.

By now, everyone has heard all they can handle about how Miami's offense poses several problems for Penn State's defense.

This is the first half of a team-by-team preview of the 2001 Big Ten football season.

The Philadelphia 76ers will play the Washington Wizards in an NBA preseason game at the Bryce Jordan Center on Oct. 22 at 7 p.m.

ARTS

Jay and Silent Bob may be two of the most popular slackers ever to appear on the silver screen, but is that enough to fill a nearly two-hour film?

Clerks was the first in the Jay and Silent Bob saga, and many hardcore fans feel it is still the best. But, 'Mallrats,' 'Chasing Amy' and 'Dogma' all followed this classic.
