A 22-year-old Penn State student was arraigned on sexual assault charges yesterday for allegedly forcing himself on a 19-year-old woman in a fraternity house in April.

Student Party candidates' battle to run in the Nov. 6 election may not be over. The Libertarian Party filed a Petition to Remove Student Party Candidates on Friday.

Three former Penn State employees pleaded guilty last week to helping a former Penn State administrator allegedly embezzle more than $300,000 from the university.

After winning a national title in 1999 and losing in the national title game the previous two seasons, the young players on the Penn State women's volleyball team last season got a small taste of what turmoil was like.

The Penn State men's soccer team will continue to tune up for the regular season today. The Nittany Lions will face off against the Syracuse Orangemen today at 5 p.m. at Jeffrey Field. The Lions are coming off of a 13-6-2 season in which they reached the finals of the Big Ten Tournament. Last year the team opened its season with a seven-game winning streak.

The Penn State football team will be facing the nation's second-toughest schedule, according to Sports Illustrated. In SI's College Football Preview issue, the magazine ranks all 117 Division I-A programs, as well as their strength of schedule for the upcoming season. Southern California has the nation's most challenging schedule according to SI, followed by Penn State, Washington State, Alabama and UCLA.

The Penn State family and the track and field community suffered a big loss on Friday when 1948 Olympian Herman Goffberg passed away in State College. He was 80.
