NEWS

An 18-year-old Penn State student was arrested Saturday for allegedly assaulting three women in their Mifflin Hall rooms early Saturday morning.

A man entered at least three female dorm rooms in Mifflin Hall early Saturday morning. Tracey Andrews (junior-telecommunications), a resident of Mifflin Hall, was relieved she locked her door that night.

If all goes as planned in a year or two, Penn State football fan David R. Smith will once again be able to walk out his front door and gaze up at Beaver Stadium and Mount Nittany just over the next hill.

After 33 years as the host of Mister Rogers' Neighborhood, this week will be Fred Rogers' last as host of the program that many Penn State students grew up watching.

Pennsylvania's U.S. senators officially responded to President Bush's announcement on stem cell research earlier this month, backing up his plan to allocate federal funding for research.

SPORTS

With one of the toughest schedules in the nation looming ahead of them, the Penn State field hockey team used Saturday's 3-0 loss to evaluate where it stands going into the season.

Though the Penn State women's volleyball team is fairly solid at all positions this year, it is clear that there are two major reasons why they are ranked No. 3 in the country going into the season.

Usually, when teams talk about their upcoming seasons, they talk about their strengths, weaknesses and what it will take to have a winning season.

With a program that has consistently reaped benefits for years, Lions football coach Joe Paterno isn't going to let one poor season change his style of coaching.

Let the great debate begin. Yes it's early, perhaps too early, in this college football season, but talking about Heisman Trophy hopefuls is one of the things that makes college football so much fun.

The Nittany Lion softball team will host two fall tournaments in preparation for the 2002 season.

Heather Gorlaski stepped out of the office and on to the turf of Bigler Field and scored two goals for the field hockey alumni team Saturday in their 3-0 defeat of the 2001 Nittany Lions.
