Students plan protests for Hooters in the fall

I sit here at my computer back home in New York. I speak for the mass of vacationing students who will attend Penn State in little more than a month. I speak on the topic of Hooters and its hopes of opening up in State College this fall.

It is interesting that legislation to clear Hooters' creation in the area is taking place during the summer, at a time when those students who protested Hooters' original plans to enter into State College last year have gone into hibernation. What a cowardly act!

I've got news for Hooters and supporters of its placement in the area; it will not come easily. Already, many students have planned for mass non-violent and peaceful protests and demonstrations against the infamous chain that exploits, instead of exults, women. The testosterone level of Penn State could dangerously go off the charts if this "family" establishment establishes itself here. Hooters not only reinforces some negative treatment of women, but glorifies it much like one would cheer when Penn State scores a touchdown in the midst of the plight of sweatshop workers in Myanmar.

I won't even get into Hooters' main product, its chicken wings and the factory farming issues therein, because I have already hit the root of the problem. I might not be at Penn State yet, but many others and myself will make our presence felt by putting the heat on the questionable practices of Hooters.
