Conservative viewpoint suppressed on campus

During finals week I remember students from all over campus coming together to fight for inclusion and equality. There was a victory of some sorts with the conclusion of the school year to achieve equality in academics. Unfortunately the battle cry for inclusion and equality has emerged yet again.

In Mr. Gerenrot's opinion, "...conservatives are not welcome at Penn State." It seems as though the fighting has spilled onto another group being persecuted for its beliefs, morals, philosophies and values. The conservative viewpoint is suppressed, if not more so than the liberal ideology, on university campuses all over the nation. Attitudes such as Mr. Gerenrot's foster hatred and lead to over exaggerations of a particular philosophy.

My beliefs are just that, my own. I do not force my opinion onto others. America thrives on healthy debate, and without it we would suffer dramatically. Although I may not agree with the left on certain issues, that does not mean I will not engage in dialogue to try to understand their viewpoint.

My religion, family and experiences have helped me adopt a conservative ideology. I do not feel as though I should be condemned and excluded from Penn State because of that.

USG Town Senator
