Letter to the Editor
Disturbing unity rally and march planned by university ineffective, unproductive for Black Caucus: Letter 5

I personally would like to thank the Black Caucus for ruining yesterday's unity march. I was under the impression that this was to be a march to show that Penn State University will not stand for racism. Apparently the Black Caucus cares more about their own agenda than promoting racial equity, which is what I thought there main goal was.

I am sorry that the Black Caucus was not asked to help plan the march. I am sure that many groups were left out of the planning of this event. Everyone should be happy that there was an event like this planned. What more would you like the university to do to respond to the threats?

I support Penn State President Graham Spanier. I don't blame him for walking away. The black student leaders caucus, whom this march should mean the most to, had just destroyed it by staging a protest. They wonder why their demands have not been met.

Probably because they are going about it all wrong. You cannot just barge into meetings and expect stuff to get accomplished. If you have demands, why not set up a meeting and talk about them?
