Disturbing unity rally and march planned by university ineffective, unproductive for Black Caucus: Letter 3
I took part in Tuesday's rally against hate with the hope of experiencing a sense of racial harmony amongst my peers. It outraged me when loudmouthed members of the Black Caucus completely disrespected President Spanier. What did they expect him to do?
He's a human being. Screaming in his face was a total sign of ludeness and immaturity. To top it all off, the racist Nation of Islam made its presence known at this protest!
Isn't this the same group that publicizes its distaste for whites and Jews? Nobody seemed to care about that, obviously. This whole racial issue has been blown out of proportion and, frankly, it's getting boring now. I have several black friends here who can all agree with me when I say there is no racial problem here! The few incidents and death threats that took place are not an indication of how things really are on this campus. Members of the black community only isolate themselves from the rest of us when they make such ridiculous demands on the administration and disrupt peaceful events. Let's move on.
