Letter to the Editor
Spanier deserves respect; sensationalism dangerous

I am watching the events at PSU with a great deal of concern from my current residence in the metro Atlanta area. What bothers me most about the current racial incident is the use of sensationalism to push forward an agenda that seems to involve much more than death threats. When Spanier tries to talk, he is booed before he is listened to. When he provides Ms. Wolf with round-the-clock police protection while calling in the FBI and other crime agencies to ferret out the perpetrator(s), he is accused of turning his back on Ms. Wolf. Racism and death threats are disgusting and are always to be taken seriously, but in my opinion, it is equally disgusting to use death threats as hostages in an unreasonable ransom demand. Students need to wake up and realize that the hysteria this clown or clowns has generated is playing right into the letter writer's hands. Let the law enforcement agencies do their jobs.
