I am totally ashamed of my university. I am a proud alumnus of Penn State and a life member of the Alumni Association. Until recently, I was proud to say I attended Penn State's University Park campus. Now with the recent events, I am very ashamed of what has become of my university and even sometimes embarrassed to say I attended Penn State.
Why can't we all just get along? Between repeated hate letters being sent to students disrupting the Blue-White game, and the recent disruption of the planned march against hate, all students involved are acting like little children who don't belong in college. Grow up and act responsibly.
For the bigot who is writing hate letters: Learn to get along with others. We are all human beings and no one ever deserves to feel frightened for who they are, or for what their skin color is. For members of the university who would disrupt university events: Doing that will only further raise animosity. We must work together and not raise boundaries. To see what brings us together and makes us the same will then make us appreciate our differences, and that's they key to getting along. Sure, maybe the university didn't act quickly enough, and there are probably great hurtles to jump, but to raise your voice without reinforcing your argument will get your nowhere. Don't make threats, and both sides have got to listen to each other. And please, make the university something to be proud of again.
