IFC sorry for rude remarks during march for victims
I would like to begin by congratulating Take Back the Night and its coordinators on an incredibly successful year and a great supporter turnout. This year, the Interfraternity Council had gone to great lengths to support women's rights and Take Back the Night. Fraternity Row was lined with luminaries, as chapters lit their windows with lone candles in a show of support for the marchers. Two weeks ago, a sexual assault resolution was proposed in recognition of Sexual Assault Awareness Month and will be voted on Monday evening. It saddens me as a member of the greek community that our efforts for progress and support are so easily marred by the actions of a few. I would personally like to apologize to Jennifer Storm, Lauren Pilnick, and the rest of the coordinators and supporters of Take Back the Night, on behalf of those individuals who may have made rude comments. The Interfraternity Council is making every effort to investigate this matter and address the situation accordingly. There is no place at this university, in State College Borough, or the greek community for such acts. The Interfraternity Council will continue to make steps to fight against sexual assault and harassment of any kind. I only ask that you realize that the actions of individuals are not reflective of the entire greek community.
Jon D. Brooks
Interfraternity Council president
