Letter to the Editor
Reactions to game protest disrespectful, inhumane

There were times when I could not refrain from bragging about Penn State and how proud I was to be a "Nittany Lion." Now, I am thinking about telling my mother to rid herself of the Penn State Mom sweatshirt I sent not too long ago. I am not longer proud to be a part of this so-called institution of higher learning and I am no longer appalled with the deplorable actions Penn State students commit on a daily basis. The riots in March were a disgrace and totally uncalled for and only added to the already tarnished reputation of this University. Students always want to complain about police brutality and an infraction on their rights, which would not be necessary if students would show a little common sense instead of acting like they were raised in a barn. The spectacle at the Blue-White game on Saturday afternoon was simply uncalled for and the students involved should have been commended for the bravery and courage they exhibited. Instead, they were maliciously booed at, which was appalling considering the fact that many individuals had no idea what the protest was about. Heaven forbid an afternoon of football be ruined on account of a group of students making a genuine effort to resolve a very real problem here at this university. I hope you are happy, fellow Penn Staters, for you have made a mockery of this institution and have allowed your ignorance to weaken an already unstable foundation. In regard to Mr. Britten's "moronic" letter in the Monday edition of The Daily Collegian, all I have to say is that if it had happened to you, I am sure you would feel quite differently about the situation. Maybe if someone threatened to kill you it would not be so "moronic." Is that what it is going to take? To have students maliciously annihilated and injured for individuals to get the point that racism in addition to myriad other maladies exist here at Penn State? Quite frankly, Penn Staters, your ignorance is the boil on the butt of not just the community, but humanity itself.
