District Justice announces he will run for reelection

District Justice Brad Lunsford announced his intention to run for reelection for the position he has held since 1996 to the office of Centre Region District Justice yesterday.

He will run on the Democratic and Republican tickets. Lunsford's magisterial district includes Ferguson, Patton, College and Halfmoon townships. Prior to his 1996 election, Lunsford served as a Centre County public defender and assistant district attorney. He was also a private attorney, focusing on the areas of family and criminal law.

Currently, Lunsford serves as President of the Board of Directors of Leadership Centre County and as chairman of the State College Elks Drug Awareness Committee. In addition, he holds a position on the Centre County Criminal Justice Advisory Board and is a volunteer attorney with MidPenn Legal Services.

Lunsford spent his first term in office instituting one of the first in-court mediation programs, expanding the juvenile community service program, and placing emphasis on drug and alcohol counseling placements for first-time juvenile offenders. Currently, the judge is developing a Restorative Justice program that will place victims of crime and non-violent juvenile offenders together in mediation.

He lives in Ferguson Township with his wife and children.
