For many graduate students, money is often tight. Now money will be even tighter for those living in Eastview Terrace with an 11 percent increase in rent recently announced.

It's about that time — the time of the year when bulletin boards across campus are packed with an array of fliers, as hundreds of students attempt to find sublets for the summer.

Kristopher Ankarlo and Maribeth Collins were elected the new president and vice president of the Commonwealth Campus Student Government (CCSG) for the 2001-2002 academic year on Saturday.

Shaffer received his award at a Commonwealth College faculty-staff recognition dinner held at University Park. He was selected for the award based on his fundraising and alumni relations and his service over the past 15 years employed at Penn State DuBois.

Richard Pencek, who recently retired from the departments of Kinesiology and American Studies, was selected by Preservation Pennsylvania to receive the 2001 Pennsylvania Historical Preservation Initiative Award.

Many things have contributed to Dan McCall's solid start as the No. 2 pitcher for the Penn State baseball team.

As an NCAA Region 5 Tournament participant last season, the Penn State softball team knows how important it is to do well against teams that are in its region.

It all came to an end Friday night for the Penn State women's gymnastics team — the record-setting season, the high scores, and the hope of advancing to the NCAA Championships April 19-21 in Athens, Georgia.

The spectators at Jeffrey Field for the Penn State men's lacrosse game against Hobart on Saturday heard an unfamiliar name when the starting lineup was announced over the public address system.

The Penn State men's lacrosse team needed a lot of offense to win a 12-11 shootout over Hobart. Luckily, sophomore midfielder Marshall Feldman and junior attacker Will Driscoll were there to provide it.

After everything that has happened this season, a fifth place finish at the NCAA Championships is practically a miracle for the Penn State men's gymnastics team.


The Penn State ultimate Frisbee teams, Spank (men) and Isis (women), couldn't have asked for a better weekend for their Spring Phling Tournament — perfect weather, going undefeated in pool play Saturday, and making it to the semi-final and final rounds, respectively, yesterday.

Racquetball player Jason Sylvester has seen plenty of tournaments in his 10 years of playing experience.

Chris Wright has been on a roll lately. In the first two games of the Penn State baseball team's four-game series against Iowa last weekend, the junior third baseman went 3-6 with a three-run home run, a double and two intentional walks.

In softball, zeros in the score column tend to be a bad thing.

Crucial — that would be the word to describe the women's lacrosse game against Lehigh at 3 p.m. today on Bigler Field.

After waiting 26 years for a national team title, the Penn State boxing team will have to wait at least one more.

The Penn State club baseball team began its North East Atlantic conference schedule by sweeping Syracuse in a triple-header on Sunday. The Lions (13-7) dominated the Orangemen by defeating them 16-0, 12-0 and 12-2.

Emotions are running high. At least that is what came from one Rugger's mouth as he looked on at the play of his teammates against the Barbarians, the Penn State graduate rugby team.
