Who the riots hurt. Part I: The police

The riot ritual has started drawing crowds of spectators to Beaver Avenue. This has created a difficult challenge for police, who face a few troublemakers amid a swarm of others who just get in the way.

President-elect Justin Zartman and Vice President-elect Amanda Hudnall decided not to make cuts in USG positions.

Spring Weekend may have come in like a lamb because of the rain, but it went out like a lion, bringing in the largest total for the AIDS Walk in its history at $5,706.

A crowd of 600 flooded the HUB Alumni Hall twice this weekend. There were dreadlocks, pink mohawks, short hair, long hair and gray hair. There were babies, young children, college students and older adults.

While Penn State men's basketball coach Jerry Dunn and Athletic Director Tim Curley tried to work out a contract extension, the Nittany Lions missed out on their No. 1 recruiting target.

Penn State men's lacrosse coach Glenn Thiel should've seen it coming. Hobart coach B.J. O'Hara sure did.

When a team is hitting and playing good defense, they have a pretty good chance of winning. The Penn State softball team did both this weekend and swept Illinois 7-0 and 4-2 at Nittany Lion Field.

When Chris Lakeman decided to come to Penn State four years ago, he did not have a spot on the gymnastics team.

The Penn State baseball team, which rode into this past weekend's series with Iowa as winners of its last seven, took just two of the series' four games.

The Penn State women's lacrosse team spent 60 minutes creating opportunities for itself against No. 2 Loyola.

On Friday, the No. 10 Penn State men's volleyball team had its 22-match home-winning streak snapped on Senior Night by No. 11 Lewis, 3-0.

Down 4-1 in the third set with the match on the line against Michigan, Penn State women's tennis player Janelle Perez took a stand.

Ryan Olkowski led the Penn State men's track and field team in a romp at the Colonial Relays this weekend at William and Mary.

Each band took the stage Saturday night with the objective of winning over the crowd and — more importantly — the judges. In the end however, the Battle of the Bands could choose only three for the Movin' On side stage.

It was a sizzling 98 degrees inside the Bryce Jordan Center as the members of this boy band sang and gyrated to the delight of thousands of screaming fans.
