Recent Penn State events do not follow Bible's word

Penn State has been in the news lately for several shameful sexual events, and now another riot. It seems some students have forgotten the words to our alma mater: "May no act of ours bring shame." We, members of the Penn State Christian Faculty/Staff Fellowship, must take a stand for righteousness. Many Pennsylvania residents are uninformed about the obscene content of campus events.

Here are the facts: The media reported that only about $50 was spent on Sex Faire, the main subject of the recent Pennsylvania House Appropriations Hearings for Penn State. However, nearly $10,000 of Student Activity Fees funded Cuntfest, an event that included total frontal female nudity and other obscenities. These fees also funded the Vagina Monologues for three consecutive years. Events containing obscenity place our campus and community on a slippery slope toward depravity. Our students are being taught that debauchery is acceptable. We are deeply disturbed by the support Penn State's administration and Board of Trustees have given to openly sexist and obscene events in the name of "freedom of speech." Absence of moral leadership has been demonstrated by the administration in their unwillingness to call promotion of pornographic filth "wrong." Some university policies may be revised because of controversies surrounding these events. However, if moral choices are overlooked, the downward spiral of campus and community standards will continue. We believe our leadership needs to acknowledge morality. The Bible provides the moral foundation for society.
