Newly elected USG heads not representing students

It appears as though the Zartman/Hudnall ticket has already begun the implementation of its "community education," and they haven't even entered office yet. Rest assured, they're starting right at the top. The Environmental Affairs Department of USG will be eliminated next year. On a similar note, LGBTA Affairs and Women's Affairs have been combined into one Department.

By cutting Environmental Affairs, what kind of "education" are Zartman and Hudnall advocating? How will USG actively work for the students to protect our campus and make sure the needs of students are matched by our concerns for our surroundings?

And LGBTA Affairs and Women's Affairs aren't important enough for their own departments? I think the past year of hate crimes and intolerance demonstrated on this campus have more than justified the existence, if not growth, of these departments. On a related note, how ignorant to assume LGBTA Affairs and Women's Affairs are so related that they can be lumped into one "umbrella" department. I will also add that nobody from the LGBTA community was included in this decision making process.

Regardless of your stance on USG and its effectiveness, this indicates to the administration where USG's priorities are. Unfortunately, it's not where the students' priorities are.
