One little piglet didn't come home.
A pig was stolen sometime Thursday from Penn State's Animal Evaluation Center. A hiker found the male pig Friday morning, Penn State Police Services said.
The pig was taken from a pen in the evaluation center and appeared to have spent the night in the cold. Penn State police said the man found the abandoned animal in a recycling bin after hearing the animal's shallow breathing. The pig was unresponsive and suffering from exposure and an inappropriate diet.
Penn State police believe that this may have been a prank and that the suspect or suspects might have fed the animal something to make it ill. A Penn State veterinarian is caring for the pig and said it is in stable condition.
