Letter to the Editor
Inappropriate use of the Bible in judgment of George W. Bush: Letter 3

"There is not one person alive who always acts according to his virtuous public persona." There is none righteous, no not one. We have all missed the mark and fallen short (way short) of the glory of God, including President Bush.

To call Bush some people's "personal American Jesus" is a disgrace. As Christians, the president is not the leader of our hearts and minds or the standard to which we strive. Such a leader is far superior to any mortal man, the Lord Jesus Christ. We love him because he first loved us and gave himself for us to remove the sins from our account. We trust him for salvation and ask him to keep us from sin. We often fail but look toward the day when we are free from this world of sin. Tim Trader, you are blaspheming against God, a dangerous position at best. Stick to your agenda and leave your fight against God out of it. Alternatively, go to the Bible and discover the Lord who changes lives and wants to change yours. As for Bush, we know he "deserves the wrath of God" (we all deserve death because of our sins), but whether Bush receives the wrath of God is only dependent on the one in whom he has put his faith. Good works and human reasoning are transient, only following Jesus is eternal.
