Letter to the Editor
Inappropriate use of the Bible in judgment of George W. Bush: Letter 2
Tim Trader's column on George W. Bush's "holiness" did touch on some decent ideas. I have been an avid Bush supporter for years, but I will not be so blind to deny his shortcomings. The standard used by Trader to analyze Bush, however, was an extreme mistake in itself. I would like to speak for all of the Bible-believing faiths on this campus by saying that the exact words Trader used from Ezekiel 25:17 do not exist anywhere in any translation of the Bible. Unless you consider Quentin Tarentino to be a prophet and Pulp Fiction to be his holy Scripture, that entire passage is in no way a moral mirror. It is merely a poetic device written for a pop-culture movie. I have no problem with people judging those in the public spotlight, even if they're judging people I support like Dubya. But if a columnist chooses to quote the Holy Bible, I would appreciate him doing so properly.
