Today's University Park forecast
sunToday will turn out to be another beautiful spring day with plenty of sunshine and temperatures rising into the 50s once again as high pressure drifts over the region. Showers will arrive on Friday as a disturbance approaches. High temperatures will slowly warm over the next few days as milder air from the south spreads over Happy Valley. Showers are possible again early next week.

Highlight


While the calendar said it was Spring, an unprecedented April blizzard struck the Northeast on this date in 1982. Snowfall totals ranged from one to two feet in Massachusetts and Connecticut, with 26 inches reported in Maine. New York City alone received 12 inches. The storm also produced thunderstorms, and winds gusted from 70 to 80 m.p.h.

Did You Know?


Tuesday and Wednesday were the 27th anniversary of the deadliest tornado outbreak in U.S. history. 148 tornadoes struck 13 states in the Southeast and Ohio Valley, lasting 16 hours. 5000 people were injured, and 330 were killed.
