Red wine, giggles, goofy grins, long walks, strawberries, sloppy kisses, bubble baths and cows.

Yes, you read it right — cows.

I've said it before and I'll say it again — I'm a sucker for chick flicks and Someone Like You is indeed a chick flick with all the necessary and important elements — even cows.

In Someone Like You, Ashley Judd plays Jane Goodale, a woman who, after having her heart broken by the one (Greg Kinnear), researches and documents theories as to why men cannot remain faithful.

Marisa Tomei plays Liz, Goodale's best friend. Liz is the stereotypical, gum-smacking, big-haired best friend who is always there to lend her expert advice and the proper dose of reality.

Tomei was great in the role, but I've been a fan of hers since she starred in her very own chick flick with Christian Slater — Untamed Heart.

As Goodale develops her theories, she moves in with her embittered, womanizing coworker, Eddie (Hugh Jackman).

Eddie is one of those guys that every girl should have as a friend — he tells Jane when she's thinking too much, he offers the male perspective to situations and he's willing to fight for her honor.

Jackman is great as the guy you'd love to hate but just can't because of that cute smirk.

Judd has amazing charisma and charm on screen, much like that found in old Hollywood films. She has an air about her that is always fresh and very debonair. However, throughout the film I found myself — and much of the audience — responding to her in an "Uh-huh, girlfriend, don't I know it — been there; done that; made that mistake before" kind of way. She seems real, like the kind of person you could sit with at a coffee shop and talk to for hours.

Based on the novel Animal Husbandry by Laura Zigman, Someone Like You was directed by Tony Goldwyn. Someone Like You is the third film Goldwyn has directed. Goldwyn is best known for his acting — his most-recent role was in Bounce where he played Gwyneth Paltrow's husband.

There is a cardinal rule when watching chick flicks that I think people sometimes forget. The rule is don't think too much. Take the film for what it is — in this case, a romantic comedy.

It's not going sweep the Academy Awards; it's not going to stimulate any thought-provoking dialogue about history or social issues but it is a light-hearted, entertaining film nonetheless.

I walked out of the theater with a smile on my face and in my heart — you can't ask for much more than that. Can you?
