Arabs are not 'terrorists'; media mislabel groups

In its continuous effort to stereotype Muslims and plant fear of Islam, the American media have come up with a new title to label Arabs and Muslims: terrorist, even though my dictionary defines the word as "the systematic use of terror especially as a means of coercion." The word is used by the media to mean any act by any oppressed Muslim or Arab in pursuit of freedom, independence or better life.

It is almost difficult to read a newspaper or hear the word Muslim on the news without hearing the "terrorist" label preceding it. It does not matter who Muslims are fighting, it does not matter what kind of oppression they have been subjected to, and it does not matter how many Muslim children and Muslim women have been raped. The Muslims are expected to take all that and be content of being the next victim.

Civilian Palestinians being bombed with rockets are labeled "terrorist" in their pursue of independence and statehood, even though the United Nations acknowledged their right to have a state and requested the occupation to be removed.

It is time to call things by their name, and it is time for America who fought for its independence to rule the world with justice.
