The Penn State women's tennis team welcomes interstate rival Ohio State to Happy Valley at 11 a.m. Sunday.
Ohio State, No. 40 in the ITA rankings, boasts a record of 11-5, 3-0 in Big Ten play. Both the Buckeyes and Lions defeated West Virginia 7-0, Minnesota 7-0, and Wisconsin 5-2 this season. Last weekend, the Buckeyes throttled Iowa 6-1, while the Lions lost a 4-3 heartbreaker to the Hawkeyes.
Ohio State beat the Lions last year 4-3. Returning their top eight players, the Buckeyes are aiming for their second consecutive Big Ten regular season title with reigning Big Ten Player of the Year Kristy Dascoli leading the charge.
Led by the 15-match winning streak by Pilar Montgomery, the No. 50 Lions will try to maintain a perfect record at home. The Lions are 6-0 this season.
If weather is fair, the Lions will see their first action at the Sarni Tennis Center. Otherwise, the match will be held indoors at the Penn State Tennis Center.
The men's team takes on Iowa Saturday at 11. am. at Sarni, weather-permitting.
