Letter to the Editor
PSU's Board of Directors should act before too late
I commend you for your editorial to the Penn State students, and I hope that it will encourage the students to begin policing themselves to avoid future incidents. As for the integrity of the Penn State students, I think that this is very high, and the entire Penn State student body should not be included amongst the few that want to act like buffoons and hooligans. However, those that do need to be dealt with accordingly, and held responsible for their actions, should be subject to the fullest execution of the law, but necessary steps need to be taken by the Board of Directors to adopt policies that will see to it that those who act irresponsibly in these matters are expelled from the university regardless of their positions, political connections, relation to a high-contributing alumni member, etc. Within the past few years these types of incidents have become too commonplace in and around Penn State, and the Board of Directors need to act by establishing new rules and policies that will not be compromised. By doing so the safety of the students, visitors, residents, and the police will be ensured. The opportunity is now, and this idea should not be put on the back burner, and it would be a slap in the face to the university if the Board of Directors act after something else occurs that leads to serious bodily injury or worse. They would then fit into that crowd that choose to close the barn door after the horse gets out.
