Some care about Hooters, not events in Pride Week
It seems odd to me that the some of the same groups here at Penn State that are promoting safe sex, women's rights, gay and lesbian rights, and even a Drag Ball are also the ones to protest establishments such as Hooters when it was proposed to open in State College. If Penn State students can participate in a Drag Ball, why can't they employ themselves off campus at a restaurant like Hooters? Should all women be prevented from showing off their natural bodies while men stuff their shirts with socks? I believe that more people would pay to eat at a restaurant like Hooters rather than go to a free event like a drag queen ball. The LGBTA couldn't give away enough wings to make a drag queen ball as popular as a Hooters would be, let alone on a daily basis. It upsets me that Womyn's Concerns has the audacity to risk losing state funding because of an event like the Sex Faire, and that Pride Week consists of events like a Drag Ball. These would be fine if other groups, like hungry, heterosexual males could have things they wanted as well, like a Hooters. I'm proud to be straight, and I'm sure there are women who would be proud to work at Hooters.
