Letter to the Editor
Alumni, residents embarrassed by students in riot: Letter 4
To the rioters: Why? "Beaver Canyon" has existed since at least the mid-seventies. The first "Beaver Canyon" riot was in 1998; the latest Friday night.
Many thousands of students graduated from Penn State in the interim. They drank while they were here. They attended the Arts Festival. They celebrated football and basketball (UCLA, 1991 NCAA Tournament) victories.
But they didn't riot.
Please enlighten us. You have tarnished a magical season of accomplishment by Gyasi Cline-Heard, Joe Crispin, Titus Ivory and their teammates and coaches, provided more fuel for what already is open season for the University's critics, and embarrassed Penn State alumni everywhere - again.
