[Monday,
March 26, 2001 ] Today's
University Park forecast
The Arctic chill that
invaded Happy Valley this first weekend of spring will
continue until the middle of the week. A weak coastal
storm will provide some snow today. Once a high pressure
system finally slides offshore toward midweek,
temperatures will begin to moderate. A weak disturbance
will provide light rain at the end of the week, but March
looks to go out like a lamb.

Weather
Highlight
March usually features strong storms
along with the arrival of spring. In 1910, however,
sunshine prevailed through the month of March. Skidmore,
Lawrence County recorded no precipitation at all. In
Happy Valley, March 1910 ranked as the driest March ever
and temperatures averaged 8.2°F above normal. Throughout
the country, many stations set records for a warm, dry
March, including Sioux Falls, South Dakota, where the end
of the month featured temperatures typical of mid-summer.
