NEWS

Police used pepper spray to clear hundreds of rowdy students from an area around East Beaver Avenue early Saturday morning, arresting 20 people on charges ranging from failure to disperse to aggravated assault.
Council member 'heartsick' over riot

Local government officials and Penn State administrators commended police efforts in quelling Saturday morning's riot, but some students said they were unsure about the fairness of the measures police used.

A rainbow banner and multicolored balloons cascaded over Old Main steps Friday afternoon, where a group of about 50 people gathered to kick off the 15th annual Pride Week

Technology is playing a large role in the Undergraduate Student Government elections, and in an attempt to increase voter turnout, online voting has been implemented.

Recent letters between university administrators and organizers of a student event show that Penn State is acting cautiously after the recent scrutiny placed on it by the state government.

SPORTS

Playing tenacious defense, stretching Penn State's offense, diving after loose balls and forcing the Nittany Lions to take bad shots all enabled the Owls to advance to the Elite Eight with an 84-72 win against Penn State Friday night.
Future of Lions' success lies with guard Watkins
Last dance

Just like the teams the Owls played prior to the Lions, Temple's strength on the boards and solid defense made Penn State fall victim to John Chaney's masterful defensive schemes.

Despite a late flourish by Penn State, the St. John's fencers weathered the storm and ended the Nittany Lions string of six straight national championships.

The Nittany Lions took two of three games from Indiana in Bloomington this weekend, getting off to a solid start in Big Ten play and upping their record to 8-15 on the season.

The Penn State women's gymnastics team finished second for the third year in a row Saturday at the Big Ten Championships in Ann Arbor, Mich.

The crowd rose to its feet, and as the Penn State men's gymnastics team accepted its third place plaque Friday night in Rec Hall, head coach Randy Jepson felt it sweep over him.

Chris Lakeman wears a black brace on his left elbow. When asked how the elbow feels, he says it's fine. The shoulder, now that's what hurts.

The Penn State men's lacrosse team didn't have much room for conference losses after falling to Georgetown in its first ECAC game, considering how hard it will be to get a bid to the NCAA tournament without winning the conference.

Once again it all came down to the last few seconds for the No. 13 Penn State women's lacrosse team.

All they had to do was beat Princeton and they would make it into the Mid-Atlantic Rugby Football Union tournament next weekend.
