Rugby teams tuning up for championships

This Saturday, both the Penn State men's and women's rugby teams face important matches standing in the way of next weekend's Mid-Atlantic Rugby Football Union Championships.

The men's team faces off against national power Princeton, who defeated the Lions last season in the MARFU Final Fours, starting at noon at West Fields (next to the golf courses on North Atherton St). The Ruggers are coming off a weekend in which they defeated both Loyola (Ill.) and West Chester, but fell to Ohio State. Field conditions will be a huge concern for the team due to the recent weather as they depend on their running game to win.

Meanwhile, the defending MARFU national champion Lady Ruggers travel to James Madison with hopes of advancing to this year's championships. Rugger Coach Pete Steinberg believes his team may be at a disadvantage in the game because the team has not yet played outside this season, while JMU has. Sophomore Rugger Devon Boyle said she is "confident" that the team will still win and play next weekend in the MARFU Final Four.
