Not running Horowitz ad not consistent with past

As a recent Penn State graduate, I have always been thankful for the institution that came from, and for the benefits of experience learning with and from so many people at one place. Recently, however, it has been difficult to come up with explanations as to why a university that prides itself in diversity has recently trimmed down its scope in promoting a diversity of thought. I work in the television news media, and my news station broadcasts to about half a million people each day. On camera, off camera, and even on some morning radio shows I bring Penn State to the forefront based on some of the good things to come out of the university.

I try to encourage more people to attend and experience the completeness of education that took place in and out of class. However, recently it's been brought to my attention by the same people I share those forums with that there have been some interesting elements of hypocrisy happening around Happy Valley. Apparently David Horowitz has written a controversial piece about the non-need for slavery reparations and has paid for it to be placed in several university newspapers, including Penn State's.

Much like their university counterparts, this ad hasn't been shown in this paper. Here's a quote I found interesting, said by university trustee David Jones in response during one of the Appropriations hearings in the state Senate after the Sex Faire issue: "If speech is to be truly free, then we must be willing to tolerate speech that is offensive and with which we disagree."
