Letter to the Editor
Always support the Lions, not just when they win
I am writing to address the hypocrites that crowded Beaver Avenue on Sunday night after the Penn State men's basketball team beat North Carolina. Yes, you, who wouldn't dare spend $5 to buy a ticket to see the Nittany Lions play in The Bryce Jordan Center. Now that the team is playing to the best of their ability and getting national exposure, everyone wants to jump on the bandwagon. I must admit, I picked the Lions to suffer a defeat at the hands of the highly talented No. 2 Tar Heels, but I knew that PSU would come to play and make it a hardly fought battle, as they have been doing all season. I was not surprised that we won because this team can compete with anyone on any given night. I remember being at games this year at The Bryce Jordan Center and looking up to see the second level almost empty and I felt bad because this Lions team puts on a great show and plays with heart. I work with the athletics department, and I know for a fact that the men's basketball would struggle at times to have 8,000 paying fans. Listen, if you want to cheer on your team, do it when times are good and bad, come to the games and see our beloved Lions and you will see why they made it to the Sweet 16. Prove that Penn State is not just a football school!
