Letter to the Editor
Common goals for school should unite its students

I have been reading the Collegian's opinion letters section daily, and though I am amused by the witty banter between students and alumni over the past couple of weeks, I feel it may be getting out of hand and we may be missing the point. This section has evolved into something of a political bathroom stall door, with the etchings ranging from childish insults to many near threats.

It is wonderful that so many of Penn State's students have a passion for these topics that affect our lives. I just don't want us to lose sight of what we must fight for as a school. We are joined together, not just because of our common pride for the Nittany Lion, but also because of our fight for children with cancer, our fight to not be victims of hate, our fight for our right to free speech, and our fight to receive fair support from the state. If we focus our passion on this and stop attacking the people we need to work with, we might see our goals realized before graduation day.
